Euchre
has been a popular card game in Iowa since the early 1900s. In
the years following the two World Wars farmers who, in the winter, had
some discretionary time and soliders back from the war often gathered
in a small town grocery store, filling station or local bar -- any
place that would hold a table and four chairs. There the men wile
away the afternoon and solved the world 's problems.
A variation of Bid Euchre, called Pepper is a popular variation played
in Iowa. Learn to play Pepper at < http://www.pagat.com/euchre/pepper.html>.
